Interactive Demo – Nora McPhail – Charcoal portrait
October 15 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Arrive at 6pm to set up and we will start at 6:30pm.
Charcoal is a beautiful medium which creates lovely silvery-greys. Willow charcoal will suit us perfectly as we draw together during our portrait workshop. A kneaded eraser will allow us to create light values, giving our drawings structure. Working this way, with dry mediums, is almost like sculpting! The finer lines and subtle details can be found with charcoal pencils. Finally, touches of soft pastel (optional) will create sparkles of light, making the highlights pop!
Paint along with amazing artist and teacher, Nora McPhail. She will demonstrate and we will do our best to repeat. Don’t worry – she will go in small, slow steps, until ultimately, we’ve each produced our own masterpiece. Nora will provide colour photos for everyone to work from and will bring a few soft pastels to add a hint of colour if you wish.
