Hello fellow Artists,
Due to dwindling enrollment we have found it unsustainable to continue so we have had to make the difficult and regrettable decision to discontinue the workshops
The Willowdale Edithvale Workshops was formed in 1985, 40 years ago, to provide affordable art lessons to our members and Artists in general, by qualified Instructors.
Back then, the group had 200 members. Also, there were fewer groups in Toronto and no You Tube and Zoom demos.
Covid changed everything!!
We now have far fewer members, a lot of them seniors, who are reluctant to drive at night and would prefer to have their workshops by Zoom.
I joined the Wokrshop team in 2009 as a helper, then took over as Treasurer the following year. In 2012, Bernadette Hill, who had been Convenor for 7 years, moved back to Montreal. Bernadette had done an amazing job and had been a wonderful mentor for me.
Providing the workshops for the past 13 years has been very rewarding. I must say, I am reluctant to give it up.
I’ve been privileged to know some of the most talented Artists from Canada, and the USA and to be taught by them. Also, I met many talented upcoming Artists whose progression and success was very rewarding to observe.
Adele Steinberg joined the Workshop group in 2015 asTreasurer, and Registration Convenor. I’m sure Adele will agree with my assessment.
Thank you Adele for your commitment and hard work for all these years. Much appreciated.
On behalf of Adele and the Willowdale Group of Artists, I would like to thank all of the Artist Instructors who taught their techniques to us year after year and to all of the Art students who supported us.
Wishing you all an enjoyable, rewarding, and successful art journey.
Sincerely,
Jo
