| Bio: | My childhood on a farm brought me into constant contact with the wonders of the world of nature, and trying to describe that world in words or pictures became a way of seeing its beauty and wonder. Painting, and, indeed, all art is still for me a way of seeing.
I studied art under the late Andre Bieler at Queen's University more than fifty years ago, and, while I continued to do some sketching and oil paintings after College, I found little leisure time, and transferred my interest to photography, discovering especially through macro lenses the beauty in the tiny things of nature.
Since retirement in 1996 I have had more time to become involved again with sketch pad and paint brushes. In this the Willowdale Group of Artists programme has been an invaluable source of inspiration and guidance.
I work mostly with acrylics, painting from sketches and photos. And recently I've been experimenting with the freedom of abstracts. |
